Red Pagoda earns its name completely — the triangular leaves stack in perfect geometric columns that genuinely resemble a tiered pagoda. In shade it stays green, but give it bright light and the entire plant transforms to a deep, vivid red-orange that looks almost artificial. One of the most dramatic colour transformations of any succulent.

Care Guide

☀️ Sunlight — Full sun to bright indirect light, 4–6 hours. The red colouring only develops in strong light — in a shady spot the plant stays green.

💧 Watering — Once every 12–15 days in summer. Every 25–30 days in monsoon.

🌱 Soil — Well-draining succulent mix: 50% cocopeat + 30% river sand + 20% perlite.

🌡️ Temperature — Thrives in 18°C–38°C. Very heat-tolerant.

✂️ Maintenance tip — Stress (more sun, less water) intensifies the red colour. Comfortable growing conditions (shade, regular water) reduce it. The choice is yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers for the details people usually want to know before ordering Red Pagoda (Crassula capitella) — Geometric Stacking Succulent.

Yes! Red Pagoda is considered a lucky and auspicious plant in Indian vastu and feng shui traditions. Known as a prosperity plant, it is believed to attract wealth. Placing it in the southeast corner of your home is considered especially auspicious.

Water Red Pagoda once every 7–10 days in summer and every 14–20 days in winter. Jade plants store water in thick leaves and are highly drought tolerant. In monsoon, reduce watering as humidity keeps soil moist. Let soil dry fully before watering.

Red Pagoda grows well indoors with bright indirect light. Place it near a south or west-facing window with 4–6 hours of filtered sunlight daily. While it tolerates lower light, leaves may lose colour intensity over time.

Red Pagoda is a slow-growing plant that can reach 60–90 cm over several years. Repot every 2–3 years or when roots appear from the drainage hole. Use a pot one size larger with well-draining succulent soil. Best time is spring in India.

Red Pagoda (Crassula ovata) is mildly toxic to dogs and cats if ingested and can cause vomiting and lethargy. It is safe to display but should be kept out of reach of pets who may chew on leaves. No risk to humans when handled normally.
